The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Popular Battle Royale Lead to Boost Troubled Hero Shooter Ambitious Title
2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Shift Follows Lukewarm Reception
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a clearer game identity.
Ismailer stated that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Key Recruitment
The news echoes a comparable move taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.
Here is the complete text from Ismailer's announcement:
Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just completed your gathering - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to persist.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The player input from last autumn’s the game playtest was informative. It validated the appeal of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the requirement for a sharper identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to mind and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed goal - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our audience.
The belief in this project grows every day. To advance the remarkable progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of 31st Union. After several months of discussions, Ben officially joins us on the specified date.
Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter genre is vast, having devoted the past decade and a half developing and managing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in welcoming him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist witnessing the evolution of the game in the weeks to come.
David

"Challenge the rivals with new abilities, stakes, and tests that shift every match. Do you safely extract with your collected items? Alternatively aim high, risk it all, and trust your squad can achieve the highest spot? The choice is up to you."
Project Ethos does not have an announced release date or supported systems, but fans can look forward to more updates as creation progresses.
